In the new chapter to *The Fourth Monkey*, Detective Porter is reassigned by federal agents to investigate a fresh string of murders in Chicago. The latest victim, Ella Reynolds, is discovered beneath the frozen waters of Jackson Park Lagoon— her body wrapped in the clothing of another missing girl. Meanwhile, Porter continues his covert investigation into Anson Bishop, the notorious Four Monkey Killer, believing the key to capturing Bishop lies with his mother. When his superiors uncover Porter’s independent work, he is suspended, leaving his partners Clair and Nash to tackle the case alone. Porter's single photograph leads him from Chicago to the streets of New Orleans, where he is confronted with a reality darker than he could have imagined, forcing him to confront the frightening mind of Bishop’s mother and the deeper conspiracies surrounding the murders.
