Books like Ariel by Grace Tiffany

Ariel is a vivid, stylized retelling of Shakespeare’s The Tempest, explored through the eyes of its cunning and beautiful eponymous spirit. Created from the mind of a shipwrecked sailor in the Bermuda Triangle, Ariel rules half of her enchanted island and longs for a savior from the east to help her dominate all. When the mariner Prospero and his young daughter Miranda arrive, Ariel lures them with grand visions of conquest. In her quest, she also draws in Miranda’s love for the island boy Caliban, creating a web of desire and conflict. As Ariel's power grows, she unleashes a cataclysmic storm that threatens to alter the lives of all who inhabit the island. Grace Tiffany, a Shakespeare scholar, examines the darker side of the original play, injecting powerful female agency and exploring how imagination can turn grief into perilous dreams.
