Books like Don't Care High by Gordon Korman

Paul has always dreamed of living in New York City, but his hopes are dashed when he arrives at the apathetic Don’t Care High. The school’s toughness is matched by its collective indifference, making adjustment impossible for the girl‑boss‑rebel of a life framed by the city’s hustle. But when Paul takes a bold step – manipulating a newly elected Student Council president – he triggers an unexpected chain of events that brings the apathetic student body into play. As quiet power becomes a catalyst for change, Paul finally finds his place in a place that had always felt too loud for comfort. The story explores the challenges of high school life in a bustling city, the stubborn nature of student indifference, and the power of bold actions to spur transformation and union among young people. Paul’s adventure showcases the complexities of adolescence, determination, and activism in a high‑school setting.
