Books like The silken bond by Flora Kidd

Lyn Brennan believes it safe to return to Morgan's Island, a place she left eight years ago after an infatuation with Joel Morgan nearly broke her heart. Scandal has marred her reputation and left a physical scar, leaving her with nowhere else to escape. The island now meets her with Dylan— the rugged fisherman walking toward her. The rugged island fisherman is more dangerously attractive than ever. One cliff-swept horizon, the other side is a humanity that is different, different, different, and different. She is now an older woman of cool reserve, which is shaken from the moment she realizes that the enduring presence of the rugged fisherman walking towards her is Joel—a man bursting with dangerous allure. This story explores the deep emotional terrain of Lyn as she confronts her past and present in a landscape that is both familiar and perilously new.
