The quiet, progressive suburb of Shaker Heights, Cleveland, is a canvas of planned streets, painted houses, and seemingly perfect lives. Elen Richardson, a resident who embodies the town’s sense of order, and her family sit at the centre of this carefully orchestrated rhythm. Mia Warren, an enigmatic artist and single mother, and her teenaged daughter Pearl move into the Richardson home, disrupting the tranquil bubble. Both Mia and Pearl quickly become entwined with the Richardson children, while Mia’s mysterious past and bold disregard for convention threaten to shatter the town’s equilibrium. When the Richardsons’ old friends seek to adopt a Chinese‑American baby, a custody battle erupts, splitting the community and pulling Mia and Elena onto opposing sides. Elena, suspicious of Mia’s motives, digs into her secrets, and her obsession carries devastating personal costs. Little Fires Everywhere explores the weight of secrets, the nature of art and identity, and the ferocious pull of motherhood, illustrating how the belief that strict rules can prevent disaster can lead to unforeseen consequences.
