Books like To the bright edge of the world by Eowyn Ivey

In the harsh winter of 1885, decorated war hero Colonel Allen Forrester embarks on an exploratory expedition up the Wolverine River into the uncharted Alaskan Territory. Leaving behind his newly pregnant wife Sophie, Forrester chronicles extraordinary encounters with native tribes and the relentless wilderness, hoping that his journal will reach her if the journey ends tragically. As the team charts the land and gathers information on indigenous peoples—whose understanding of nature diverges sharply from European concepts—they sense a looming, mysterious threat. Back in Vancouver, Sophie battles the restrictive expectations placed upon pregnant women of the era, yearning to accompany her husband. She finds an outlet in photography, a burgeoning art form, and prepares herself for a winter that will test her courage and faith to the limit.
