Books like Mad about the duke by Elizabeth Boyle

Lady Elinor Standon, a sensible member of the aristocracy, faces a dilemma when her greedy stepfather attempts to marry her younger sister to a wealthy suitor. To prevent this, Elinor must become a widow’s sister and secure guardianship of her sister, a condition requiring her own marriage to a duke. Desperate, she hires Mr. St. Maur, Esq. for legal assistance in securing such a match. As the plan unfolds, Elinor discovers that Mr. St. Maur is more than he appears: beneath his modest attire lurks a man with a striking presence that captivates her. Their professional relationship turns personal, and Elinor finds herself torn between protecting her sister and the growing attraction to a solicitor who may be unsettling her expectations. At the same time, James Tremont, the ninth Duke of Parkerton, attempts to mask his true identity by borrowing his brother’s ill‑fitting jacket, only to be confronted by Elinor who mistakes him for a solicitor. His attempt at anonymity creates unforeseen complications, as the Duke must keep his identity concealed to preserve his single‑parent status, all while facing the possibility of falling in love under false pretenses.
