Books like Choice of the cat by E. E. Knight

‘Choice of the Cat’ is the second novel in E. E. Knight’s series that began with *Way of the Wolf*. After forty‑five years of Reaper domination, humanity still clings to hope through an underground resistance. David Valentine, a seasoned member of that resistance, is selected for the elite Cat program—high‑stealth warriors specialized in covert operations. As part of his training, Valentine faces his inaugural mission: to investigate the threat posed by the Twisted Cross, a powerful and enigmatic force that has slipped into Reaper hands. The narrative follows Valentine’s preparation, skill acquisition, and the perilous encounter that will test both his resolve and the limits of the resistance. The novel blends hard science‑fiction themes of alien occupation with the personal journey of a human soldier honing his abilities, offering readers a tightly plotted, action‑driven continuation of the series’ overarching conflict.
