Books like Cats in May by Doreen Tovey
In "Cats in May," Doreen Tovey presents a collection of witty anecdotes chronicling her rural life with two capricious Siamese cats, Sheba and Solomon. Their mischievous antics—from headline‑grabbing BBC incidents to rumors of kidnapping—contrast sharply with the Toveys’ attempts at peace. The stories also spotlight other eccentric characters: a self‑deprecating gardener named Sidney, a brandy‑loving squirrel called Blondin, a saboteur squirrel that chews suit buttons, and a runaway tortoise named Tarzan. Both human and animal mishaps are rendered with humor and affection, making the book a delightful read for cat lovers and anyone who has ever felt trailed by a pet. New black‑and‑white illustrations accompany the tales, bringing the spirited scenes to life for a new generation of readers.
