Books like Flag in Exile by David Weber

Captain Honor Harrington has been exiled from active duty under political duress and is grieving the loss of a loved one. After retreating to Grayson to serve as Steadholder, she witnesses the resurgence of the People's Republic of Haven, threatening a planet that relies on her experience. The nascent Grayson Navy urgently needs her leadership, and though she doubts her own abilities, the noble commander takes the call to protect her newfound home. Behind the scenes, powerful adversaries, fearful of Harrington’s reforms, scheme to kill her and undo her legacy. Amid this danger, Honor must rally allies and confront the looming assault to preserve Grayson’s freedom. Her story blends hard science fiction, space warfare, and political intrigue with the central theme of a woman captain navigating betrayal, loss, and duty across the galaxy.
