Books like Crown of slaves by David Weber

The Star Kingdom’s support of its ally Erewhon is strained by the new High Ridge regime’s disregard for Erewhon’s grievances and the persistent slave‑labor operations run by hostile Mesans in the region. A high‑profile assassination within the Solarian League further hints at destabilizing forces in the political landscape. Desperate to repair diplomatic relations, Queen Elizabeth orders a covert mission to Erewhon, led by Captain Zilwicki and accompanied by one of her nieces. Upon arrival, the envoy discovers a complicated and dangerous situation: they encounter Victor Cachat, a skillful agent from the Republic of Haven, and notice that the Solarian League’s own military delegation is involved in questionable activities. Adding to the turmoil, the radical freed‑slave organization known as the Audubon Ballroom, led by a ruthless assassin named Jeremy X, is also present, threatening to ignite further conflict on the planet. The mission’s outcomes hinge on navigating espionage, slave‑rights tensions, and shifting alliances in a galaxy where every move could alter the balance of power.
