Books like It's Only Temporary (Men at Work) by Cathy Gillen Thacker

Dr. Hilary Morgan’s lifelong ambition to practice medicine in Boston is abruptly derailed when she is accused of malpractice and can only work at a remote Appalachian clinic while her case goes to trial. The transition is challenging for a doctor accustomed to city conveniences—cable television, orchestral concerts and industrial‑grade appliances. The mountain’s small hospital, run by the seasoned Dr. Rick Burnett, welcomes her but faces resistance from residents who are skeptical of her modern techniques. Rick’s supportive guidance and exceptional bedside manner help Hilary regain her professional confidence. With the trial looming, Hilary faces a pivotal decision that tests her resolve and the limits of medicine. This novel explores the clash between urban and rural medical practices, the personal cost of legal accusations, and the transformative power of mentorship and humility in a community setting.
