Books like The World Above by Cameron Dokey

Gen and her twin brother Jack grow up listening to their mother’s tales of the World Above—a vast, enchanted realm belonging to royal rulers. Though Gen remains skeptical, Jack’s curiosity drives him to trade the family cow for a handful of magic beans. When he plants them, a towering stalk rises, inviting him to ascend to the skies. Jack’s ascent brings him into the domain of a ruthless tyrant who enjoys rulership over the land, and the boy is captured. Learning of her brother’s peril, Gen sets out on her own dangerous journey through the World Above. As she confronts unknown giants, treacherous terrain, and ancient mysteries, she faces not only the tyrant’s forces but also challenges that test her own courage and sense of self. The story follows Gen’s determination to rescue Jack, illustrating themes of sibling loyalty, bravery, and the search for identity in a fantastical setting.
