Books like A lion called Christian by Anthony Bourke

In 1969 Anthony “Ace” Bourke and John Rendall bought a lion cub named Christian from Harrods’ pet department. The pair shared a flat on London’s King’s Road, where Christian became a local celebrity, appearing in a fashion advertisement and cruising the streets in a Bentley. Christian’s size and wild nature soon outgrew the flat and the walled church garden for exercise. A chance meeting with actors Virginia McKenna and Bill Travers, famed for the film *Born Free*, led to Christian being flown to Kenya and placed under the care of wildlife pioneer George Adamson. A year later, Bourke and Rendall returned to Kenya to find Christian fully integrated into a pride of lions, living among other African lions as it had always intended. First published in 1971, the updated edition includes more than 50 photographs documenting Christian’s journey from cuddly cub in London to magnificent lion in the wild, celebrating the enduring bond between humans and animals.
