Books like Children of the new world by Alexander Weinstein

Children of the New World is a collection of short stories set in a speculative near‑future where social‑media implants, memory manufacturing, immersive virtual reality games, and intuitive robots permeate everyday life. Through distinct narratives, the book contrasts a seemingly utopian society built on instant connection and technological gratification with a post‑collapse world that forces its inhabitants to rebuild in a more primitive way. “The Cartographers” follows a protagonist working for a company that sells virtual memories while struggling to maintain a real‑world relationship amid his own addiction to fabricated experiences. In “Saying Goodbye to Yang,” the malfunction of a robotic brother adopted by a Chinese family forces them to confront the depth of their bond with the machine and the implications of artificial parenthood.
