Annja Creed, an archaeologist, is enlisted by the Japan Buddhist Federation to catalog and conserve ancient Buddhist shrines scattered across Nepal. Facing political violence and the threat of desecration, she becomes the Federation’s last line of defense against vandalism and plunder. As local police grow suspicious of her presence, Annja must navigate the dangers posed by antique smugglers and Maoist guerrillas who seek to seize the sacred sites. Her mission takes a dramatic turn when she journeys high into the Himalayas to protect a priceless golden Buddha statue, only to learn that the shrine is rumored to be cursed and guarded by demonic forces. With both her life and the integrity of these holy places at stake, Annja confronts the supernatural and must rely on her expertise and resolve to protect the treasure and herself.
