Books like Quick Curtain by Alan Melville

The play "Quick Curtain" unfolds on a packed opening night at the Grosvenor Theatre, where the leading man, Brandon Baker, is tragically killed by a real bullet. The drama escalates when another company member falls victim to a second fatality, turning what appears to be a straightforward case of murder followed by suicide into a complex investigation. Central to the intrigue is Inspector Wilson of Scotland Yard, whose presence casts a serious tone over the chaotic stage. Accompanying him is his son, an enthusiastic young reporter, whose role echoes the classic Holmes-Watson dynamic. Together they navigate the web of clues, guided by the chaos of the theater and the reality of the crime. Their investigation reveals that the true motives behind the killings are deeper than initially suspected, offering a sharp twist on the Golden Age mystery genre.
