Books like Jane Austen Goes to Hollywood by Abby McDonald

Hallie and Grace Weston could not be more different. Hallie, the older sister, views the world as a stage and dreams of fame; Grace, the calm middle child, keeps their dramatic home life grounded. When their father dies, leaving everything to his snobbish new wife, the sisters are uprooted from their familiar community. They are forced to relocate into a relative’s guesthouse in the glittering, status‑obsessed enclave of Beverly Hills. Plunged into a strange and glamorous new world, the penniless Weston sisters must rebuild their lives. Hallie throws herself into the Hollywood scene, chasing a career as an actress and an intense affair with a musician named Dakota. Meanwhile, shy Grace finds an unexpected ally in a quirky local girl, Palmer, but still longs for a crush she had left behind. As they confront grief, friendship, and ambition, the sisters question whether Hallie’s cinematic vision of love can guide them, and whether Grace can step off the sidelines to embrace her own future.
