Juno is a dirty cop with a difficult past and an uncertain future. His family and thousands of others emigrated to the colony world of Lagarto, promised a bright future on a planet with a booming economy. But before the colonists arrived, everything changed: an opportunistic Earth-based company created a cheaper version of Lagarto’s main export, effectively impoverishing the planet and its inhabitants. Growing up on post-boom Lagarto, Juno lives in despair. He once served as a young cop in the police department of Koba’s capital city, before taking bribes from the city’s powerful organized crime syndicate. Yet a part of him has not given up hope. He risks his life, his marriage and his job to expose a cabal that would enslave the planet for profit. Confronted with a dead man and a series of leads, Juno must identify the killer while juggling political pressures from the police chief, the crooked mayor, and a beautiful partner whose loyalty is in question. His story unfolds as a dark, gritty noir thriller set in a science‑fiction world filled with crime, drugs, and corporate greed. This engaging adventure blends tense detective work with a bleak vision of a future society, delivering a powerful, taut narrative that challenges its protagonist and readers alike.
