Books like Making Money by Terry Pratchett

Moist von Lipwig has turned the Ankh-Morpork Post Office into a thriving, efficient operation, too much for the city’s grumpy ruler to ignore. Lord Vetinari’s challenge to make real money lands on Moist’s desk, but not in the way he expected. The Royal Mint, long run by hereditary crews, demands more than pennies of effort for every coin it produces. At the Royal Bank, a comical “analogy machine” and a chairwoman who keeps loaded cross‑bows threatens Moist’s plans. Yet before he can weigh his options, a mess of bank‑breaks, jail escapes, and a mysterious disappearance of gold forces him into a world of enemies and English‑literature‑style mischief. As he juggles vault‑breaches, rogue bankers and suspects with oddly vampire‑like qualities, Moist must solve the paradox of making money in a city where paper and coin can be swapped and even stolen. Pratchett’s trademark humor, combined with a satirical look at economics, banking, and the mail system, keeps readers engaged as Moist navigates the strange and sprawling city of Ankh-Morpork.
