Books like Prince of pot by Tanya Lloyd Kyi

Isaac loves art class and wrestling with his father’s mysterious business, but his world turns upside down when he discovers his parents secretly grow marijuana and his best friend Hazel is, in fact, a bear. Living with a clandestine grow‑op, young Isaac struggles to keep his family’s hidden life from blowing up while navigating the ups and downs of high school life. The novel blends humor, heart, and unexpected twists as Isaac learns about responsibility, friendship, and the true meaning of family. Facing the challenges of adolescence, Isaac’s dual reality of family obligations and normal teenage drama introduces readers to a loyal animal companion, the stakes of a covert operation, and the earnest stakes of growing up. Through Isaac’s perspective the book explores themes of secrecy, responsibility, and the often surreal intersection of personal identity and family duty.
