Books like Wolf Tower by Tanith Lee

Wolf Tower follows the first‑person journal entries of Claidi, a young girl—sometimes called Claidi or Claidissa—captured as a slave in the House bound by draconian rules. Writing in a raw, introspective style, Claidi records the slow, grim days of her youth and her desperate desire for someone to notice her. As the story unfolds, Claidi forces herself into the harsh realities of the Waste, where she is pushed to enforce intolerable laws and confront her own hopelessness. Yet through these trials she discovers inner strength and a growing sense of identity. Ultimately the narrative becomes an odyssey of growth, revealing how freedom, love, family, and community can reshape a life once confined by oppression. Lee’s world expands beyond the House’s walls, inviting readers to envision a future where possibilities abound.
