Books like This World We Live In by Susan Beth Pfeffer

When a sudden increase in the moon’s gravitational pull triggers cataclysmic natural disasters, Earth is left in chaos: cities collapse, sunlight is scarce, and vast stretches of plain land become hostile environments. In the midst of this upheaval, a family records their everyday struggles in a journal, sharing the anxiety and resilience that define their uncertain survival. Through a child‑friendly, diary‑style narrative, the book explores the importance of family bonds and practical survival skills. Readers witness the family's determination to find shelter, food, and hope while the world around them is dramatically altered by lunar forces. The novel presents a realistic look at how ordinary people might cope with sudden ecological upheaval, illustrating the challenges of maintaining community and safety when the familiar structures of civilization are gone.
