Books like Close To The Bone by Stuart MacBride

In this gritty Scottish police procedural, Detective Inspector Logan McRae is drawn into a series of brutal murders that leave a chained body strangled and stabbed, with a burning tyre around the neck. As bodies pile up, tiny bone knots appear outside McRae’s house, hinting at a deeper connection. Simultaneously, drug gangs clash over territory, a pair of missing teenagers causes community panic, and an influx of immigrants faces new crises. McRae juggles mounting paperwork, a new ambitious detective sergeant, and scrutiny from both superiors and a local crime boss, all while trying to untangle the link between the killings and a bestselling novel. The investigation escalates when another body appears, deepening the mystery and forcing McRae to confront a conspiracy that may be far more sinister than the drug war.
