Books like That's alright, Elvis by Scotty Moore

When a shy teenage Elvis Presley appeared at Sam Phillips’s Memphis Sun Records studio, Scotty Moore, a local guitarist, became his first collaborator. Their impromptu session on the blues number “All Right, Mama” produced Elvis’s debut single, launching a rapid rise in touring, radio, and film. The trio—Scotty, bassist Bill Black, and Elvis—performed as the Blue Moon Boys before Colonel Tom Parker’s arrival shifted the power dynamic and pushed Scotty into the background. Despite setbacks, Scotty forged a career as an engineer and producer while still playing on sessions for Elvis and other artists through the 1980s. Now the only surviving member of the original trio, he offers the only firsthand account of how Elvis and his band crafted the foundational rock ’n’ roll sound and how Scotty’s guitar work set a prototype for generations of rock musicians.
