Books like Contagious by Scott Sigler

In "Contagious," a mysterious pathogen spreads across America, transforming ordinary citizens into violent killers with a sinister alien agenda. The disease adapts after each encounter, suggesting a malevolent intelligence behind the epidemic. A covert squad, assembled in utmost secrecy, faces this ever‑evolving threat. Their key asset is Perry Dawsey, a former football player whose psychological scar grants him the uncanny ability to locate infected individuals. Joined by CIA veteran Dew Phillips and epidemiologist Margaret Montoya, the trio strives to outwit the pathogen and uncover a cure, while the nation teeters on the brink of nuclear brinkmanship. The story escalates as the infection becomes contagious, cutting humanity’s survival time sharply and adding unforeseen adversaries that threaten to outshine the original menace.
