Dawson Scott, a respected journalist recovering from battle fatigue after a recent assignment in Afghanistan, receives a summons from an FBI source. A long‑shadowed story resurfaces—one that began forty years earlier and could represent the career‑making break he has long sought. As Dawson investigates the disappearance and presumed murder of former Marine Jeremy Wesson, the biological son of two notorious terrorists on the FBI’s most wanted list, he is drawn into a complex investigation involving Wesson’s ex‑wife, Amelia, and her two young sons. When Amelia’s nanny is found dead, the case takes a shocking turn, placing Dawson himself under suspicion. Haunted by his own past and the looming threat of his own demons, Dawson must pursue the elusive outlaws while uncovering a startling truth about himself and the forces that shape the story he has been chasing.
