Books like A list of cages by Robin Roe

In a middle‑school setting where secrets linger, Adam, a senior, first notices a subtle break in his classmates’ routine. His instinct leads him to investigate some whispers of mistreatment concerning Julian, a quieter freshman. As Adam learns the truth behind Julian’s vulnerability, he faces a difficult choice: remain in the safety of division, or use his influence among friends and teachers to fight for the boy’s protection. The delicate friendship that forms between Adam and Julian becomes a beacon of support, galvanizing classmates, family and authorities to confront abuse and offer a lifeline where there once was only isolation. During the narrative, the reader sees how trust and courage can provide a transformative force against concealment. The story also spotlight the complicated nature of loyalty, empathy, and cooperation in high‑school. Together, Adam and Julian step forward, challenging the taboo of abuse and encouraging spoken beyond denial to positively affect people in a small school community. Prepared for a juvenile audience, the book illustrates the strength that surging friendships demand, from raising the voices of victims to uncovering new ways of looking out.
