Seattle homicide unit detective Daphne Matthews is drawn into a tangled investigation when a victim’s body is found beneath the Aurora Bridge. With her past haunted by a failed suicide counselor role, Matthews finds herself pitted against a dangerous stalker and an elusive killer. As Matthews digests clues that intertwine with her own history, Lieutenant Lou Boldt and Sergeant John LaMoia pursue a series of disappearances involving a hotel-room peeper. The investigation leads to a concealed cellars network—an ancient underground city beneath modern Seattle—forcing Matthews to navigate psychological and physical dangers. Trying to stay ahead of her stalker and solve the murder, Matthews must use her skills of deception to survive and uncover the truth behind Mary‑Ann Walker’s death before she becomes another victim of the city’s hidden horrors.
