Books like The second coming by Patrick Califia-Rice

The Second Coming revisits and expands upon the landmark essays and graphics of Coming to Power: Writings and Graphics on Lesbian S/M. The anthology presents contemporary essays, poetry, photography, and drawings that document how female‑on‑female sadomasochism has moved from underground to a visible, politicized community. Contributors—writers, poets, visual artists, and activists—offer candid explorations of power, pleasure, and identity within the leather lifestyle. The collection captures the raw energy and relentless innovation of today’s lesbian S/M scene while honoring its historical roots. Each piece—whether short fiction, reflective essay, or evocative image—illustrates a distinct facet of lesbian sexuality, from subversive power dynamics to the joy of mutual consent. Together, they form an informative and empowering portrait of a community steeped in eroticism, politics, and artistic expression. Through this volume, readers gain insight into the contemporary “leatherdyke” aesthetic, the ongoing dialogue around erotica and empowerment, and the vibrant community building that has kept lesbian S/M alive for decades.
