Set fifty years before the events of the bestselling Partholon series, the novel follows Aine, the Healer of Guardian Castle. A sudden darkness grips the castle, and despite her efforts to heal, Aine senses a profound change. When she encounters a wounded, winged Fomorian—a creature described as dark, blood‑thirsty, and inherently evil—she must confront her own beliefs about good and evil. The unexpected connection that develops between Aine and the Fomorian, highlighted by the sharing of blood, forces her to question everything she has known and prepares her for a future where old assumptions may collapse. The story expands the world of Partholon, revealing the complexities of the Fomorian race and the fragile balance between light and darkness that governs the realm. As Aine navigates loyalty, duty, and the pull of a darkness that refuses to be subdued, the novel sets the stage for the adventures and conflicts that follow in the widely acclaimed series.
