Books like An expert in murder by Nicola Upson

In the bustling world of 1930s British theatre, renowned mystery author Josephine Tey travels from Scotland to London for the closing week of her play *Richard of Bordeaux*. The satisfaction of success turns to terror when a young woman she befriended on the train is murdered, compelling Tey to assist in solving the crime. Detective Inspector Archie Penrose believes the killing is tied to the play, whose pacifist themes resonate in a society still haunted by the First World War. As a second murder unfolds, the pair face a ruthless killer among the flamboyant theatre community, confronting personal ghosts while risking their own safety. *An Expert in Murder* blends a historical backdrop with a psychological thriller, honouring the legacy of Josephine Tey while delivering an atmospheric detective narrative set in London, 1934.
