Books like The Templars' last secret by Martin Walker

Bruno, the well‑liked chief of police in the calm Dordogne town of St. Denis, is called back into danger when a woman's body is discovered at the foot of the cliff overlooking the ruined Château de Commarque—historical stronghold of the Knights Templar. The site, atop the cliff and beneath a labyrinth of prehistoric caves, still captivates scholars. With the help of Amélie, a new Haitian resident of the Dordogne, Bruno learns the deceased was an archaeologist hunting for a religious artifact whose discovery could have far‑reaching implications across the Middle East. The woman's connections to Islamic terrorists add urgency to Bruno’s investigation, while an old flame joins the case, and the pair retreat to savor the wine, food, and beauty of the region. Amid intrigue and suspense, Bruno must untangle centuries‑old secrets that now threaten modern lives.
