Books like Fire Sea by Margaret Weis

Abarrach is a world of stone carved into endless underground caverns, surrounded by a living core of molten lava. Decades of isolation have left the once thriving humans, elves, and dwarves mute echoes, while the last surviving Sartan fight for survival. Haplo and Alfred—two figures whose lines are split by heritage yet bound by necessity—journey into this unforgiving landscape. As they navigate lethal terrain, they begin to reveal truths about the Sartan’s past and the forces that may determine the destiny of all their descendants. The story sits within the larger Death Gate Cycle, a saga that began when ancient sorcerers divided a world into sky, fire, stone, and water realms. Those who have survived and crossed the Death Gate now seek to reconnect the fractured realms and redeem the lost knowledge of their shattered world.
