Books like Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson

Raised as a foundling in the towering stacks of Austermeer’s Great Libraries, Elisabeth grows up surrounded by dark grimoires that whisper on the shelves and clank beneath iron chains. She has long believed that all sorcerers are inherently evil, and she watches the grimoires’ pages trembling whenever someone daringly invokes their power. When provoked, these books erupt into grotesque monsters made of ink and leather, threatening the safety of the kingdom. Determined to protect her world, Elisabeth dreams of becoming a warden—a guardian tasked with keeping the kingdom safe from the unchecked forces of sorcery. In a world where knowledge and danger are bound together, she must learn to master the very tools that could destroy her. "Sorcery of Thorns" blends children’s fantasy with a cautionary tale about the responsibility that comes with knowledge, offering a unique look at the power of libraries, apprentices, and the sinister potential of unchecked magic.
