Books like A fatal chapter by Lorna Barrett

Tricia Miles, a seasoned women detective and bookshop owner, is stunned when Pete Renquist, her friend and president of the Stoneham Historical Society, dies abruptly. His last, cryptic words haunt her, prompting her to uncover a web of motives: a jealous spouse, heated flirtations, and a hidden chapter in the town’s history. As Tricia delves into the archives and interviews residents, she balances personal grief with professional duty, determined to reveal the killer before anyone else falls victim to the same sinister past. Set in a close community with a bustling bookstore scene, the investigation ties together themes of love, betrayal, and the weight of historical revelations. Her journey illustrates the complexities of being a woman detective in a small town, her connections to the local literary world, and the relentless pursuit of justice that drives her forward.
