Books like La estrategia del agua by Lorenzo Silva

After a disappointing judicial experience that released a long‑ago killer, Brigada Bevilacqua, known as Vila, is skeptical and jaded. He is then faced with a new case: Óscar Santacruz arrives at his home with two gunshot wounds to the nape, the work of a professional that belies the victim’s relatively minor background of drug‑related offences and alleged domestic violence. Vila and Sergeant Chamorro reluctantly take the case, a task that will test Vila’s faith in the system and pave the way for Arnau, a young guard who gradually earns Vila’s confidence. Santacruz’s troubled past—divorce, strained custody of his son, and a history of legal and criminal entanglements—raises questions about the motives behind the murder and the hidden forces that may have driven it. The novel probes the gray areas of relationships, judicial errors, modern police investigation, and the injustices inherent in law, revealing that the true darkness often lies close to home.
