Books like Mouseheart by Lisa Fiedler

Hopper is an ordinary mouse living in a pet shop until a daring escape drags him underground into the vast, untamed tunnels beneath Brooklyn's bustling streets. There he encounters Atlantia, a seemingly perfect rat civilization that thrives in the shadows of the transit system. Despite being welcomed as a royal guest, Hopper feels the absence of his lost siblings and senses that the utopia he has found is not without peril. Rebellious forces constantly threaten Atlantia, while cats roaming its streets protect the citizens—an arrangement that puzzles even the most astute observers. Caught in the crosshairs of a large-scale conflict that once again tests the bonds between species, Hopper learns dark and extraordinary secrets about Atlantia, his friends, and his own destiny. As the battle swirls, he must confront questions of loyalty, identity, and the true nature of the city he now calls home.
