Books like A walk in the woods by Lee Blessing

In this sharp, contemporary drama, a newly appointed American arms‑control negotiator steps onto the stage of Cold War politics. Through witty exchanges and biting sarcasm with his seasoned Soviet counterpart, he is reluctantly taught that the public rituals of nuclear arms control are often more about appearances than genuine restraint. The play unpacks the hypocrisy of both superpowers, revealing how neither side truly commits to peace. As the protagonist grapples with the absurdity of the negotiations, he must maintain his professional composure, his own sanity, and remain prepared for any shift that might finally enable real trust between the two nations. With a blend of sharp dialogue and biting social commentary, the play offers a compelling look at the personal and political challenges of negotiating nuclear disarmament during a tense period of the twentieth century.
