Books like Mind of winter by Laura Kasischke

When Holly Judge awakens on a snowy Christmas morning, fragments of a nightmare hover at the edge of her consciousness—an unease that has followed her from Russia. Years earlier, Holly and her husband Eric had visited Siberia, hoping to bring home a sweet, dark‑haired child named Tatiana, a Cinderella‑like figure they adored. Returning to the United States, they nurture Tatiana into a once‑perfect daughter, now a dangerously beautiful, petulant teenager whose mood darkens with each passing day. Amid growing misfortunes—from a sickening cat to haunted chickens, to slips and scratches—Holly senses malevolent forces within the house and within herself. As the blizzard rages outside and isolation tightens, the family’s bonds strain to the breaking point, leaving Holly to confront the terrifying possibility that the daughter she loves may no longer recognize her.
