Books like Roadkill by Kinky Friedman

Kinky Friedman, a private investigator known for his sharp wit and public nuisance, is called upon to help Willie Nelson, the legendary country icon, who's become increasingly agitated. Assigning himself a mission to lift his friend’s spirits—or die trying—Kinky joins Willie and his entourage on the bus named "Honeysuckle Rose." Traveling from Texas to Buffalo, they encounter a bizarre array of roadside incidents: an intoxicated Native American encounter in Arizona, a mysterious curse, and a fatal shooting that mistakenly targets a crew member, turning the road trip into a perilous investigation into threats against the singer’s life. The novel blends humor, mystery, and the gritty atmosphere of the American Southwest and northern routes as Kinky navigates a series of twists that keep Willie—and his own survival—on edge.
