***"The events that I am writing about meant so much to me, and I have lived them over to myself during so many long nights, that I think my story is as close to reality as if it were only last night that I said my unsuspecting goodbye to the General, to Ike, to the man I loved."* *- Kay Summersby Morgan*** Here, at long last, is the true intimate story of General Dwight D. Eisenhower and Kay Summersby, the young vivacious English fashion model who became his wartime driver, his staff aide - the woman by his side at every crisis, Kay Summersby shared with Ike the triumphs and desolation of war - the loneliness of a commanding officer, the tense, long hours before D-Day and victory - and discovered beneath his military discipline a man of charm and passion, deeply affectionate, yet tragically tormented. Powerful, beautiful, sad. Past Forgetting: My Love Affair with Dwight D. Eisenhower, the true story of the most poignant romance of World War II by Kay Summersby Morgan.
