Books like The forgotten garden by Kate Morton

In "The Forgotten Garden," Kate Morton intertwines three generations of intertwined lives. A young girl, abandoned on a ship bound for Australia in the years before the First World War, is taken in by a mysterious author who disappears. Decades later, Nell O'Connor discovers a secret on her 21st birthday that propels her to the windswept Cornish coast and the storied Blackhurst Manor, the former home of the Mountrachet aristocracy. When Nell dies, her granddaughter Cassandra inherits Cliff Cottage and its neglected garden, a place shrouded in local lore. The garden holds the key to the Mountrachet family’s tragic past and a century‑old mystery involving a writer of bleak Victorian tales. Through evocative prose, Morton weaves themes of inheritance, family memory, and the enduring power of hidden truths, drawing readers into the haunting landscapes of England, Cornwall, and Australia.
