Books like Once upon a K-Prom by Kat Cho

Elena Soo has always felt eclipsed—by her high‑achieving sisters, popular twin brother, and outgoing best friend. She is determined to stay focused on helping the local community center, a place where she truly feels at home. When international K‑pop star Robbie Choi, now a glittering celebrity with pink hair and a legion of fans, unexpectedly asks her to prom, Elena is thrust into a world of glamour, paparazzi, and online scrutiny. The proposal rekindles a promise made in childhood to attend prom together, but Robbie’s new persona and the weight of stardom complicate that vow. Elena must weigh her longing for Robbie, her fear of the spotlight, and her commitment to her quiet life before making a decision. The novel follows Elena’s internal battle as she navigates the clash between ordinary high‑school dreams and the extraordinary spotlight of K‑pop stardom, offering humor, heartfelt moments, and a light‑hearted look at identity, friendship, and the pursuit of personal goals.
