Books like Black Projects, White Knights by Kage Baker

Black Projects, White Knights brings together fourteen Dr. Zeus Inc. stories for the first time, including three previously unpublished tales and the exclusive "The Queen in Yellow." The collection follows immortal field agents—Botanist Mendoza hunting a rare grape in 1844 Santa Barbara; Facilitator Joseph interacting with Robert Louis Stevenson in 1879; Marine Salvage Specialist Kalugin rescuing a Delacroix painting from a sunken yacht in 1894; and Literature Preservationist Lewis retrieving literary artifacts from an Egyptian mummy in 1914. It also presents the first four Alec Checkerfield stories, revealing the origins and purpose of this legendary superman. A new author introduction, “The Hounds of Zeus,” opens the book with insight into the Company and its files. The stories raise questions about intervening in history for profit, the sustainability of ethical standards with unlimited power, and the moral implications of altering events—questions that resonate through the narrative of Dr. Zeus Inc., the clandestine organization at the heart of the series.
