Books like Hugh Howey's Wool by Justin Gray

The earth above is ruined and poisoned, but deep beneath the surface, a massive silo shelters the last remnants of humanity. Bound by strict regulations designed to protect the fragile underground community, every action is monitored. When Sheriff Holston—an authoritative figure who enforces these rules—unintentionally breaks the most sacred taboo by requesting to leave the silo, the community is thrown into crisis. The only person capable of stepping into the sheriff’s role is Juliette, a skilled mechanic with no legal training but an exceptional talent for repairing intricate machines. Entrusted with maintaining the silo’s systems, Juliette soon discovers that the fabric of her world is more fractured—and more desperate—than she ever imagined. As she navigates the underground’s complex politics, dangerous secrets, and her own growing doubts, Juliette must confront both the literal and metaphorical darkness that threatens to swallow the last bastion of civilization.
