Books like A murder of magpies by Judith Flanders

Book editor Samantha Clair’s ordinary day is shattered when police inspector Field visits her office to inquire about an undelivered package addressed to her. The courier who was meant to deliver it is found dead, and Kit Lowell, a well-known author whose next novel is set to expose truths about the fashion world, goes missing. With Kit’s manuscript buried in dangerous secrets, Claudia is thrust into a crime investigation that forces her to confront secrets that powerful people will stop at nothing to keep hidden. Powered by humor and clever twists, the novel follows Clair as she uses her literary eye and unexpected detective instincts to piece together clues before the authorities close in. Judith Flanders’s debut sleuth tale weaves a fast‑paced mystery with sharp satire, featuring a bright cast of characters from a busy publishing house to a charismatic police inspector, all poised around a story of gossip, reveal, and danger.
