Books like Ghost Train by Jess Mowry

Remi DuMont, a 13‑year‑old newcomer from Port‑Au‑Prince, Haiti, hopes his move to West Oakland, California will bring a better life. Instead, he and his parents settle in the second‑floor apartment of a lonely Victorian house that sits in a neighborhood riddled with real‑life danger. At 3:13 each night, Remi hears a train approach the house, and watching from his window he sees the apparition of a murder on board. The scene is the same as the one that occurred in 1943 when Liberty ships were built in Oakland during World War II, connecting past and present through the supernatural. Team‑up with Niya Bedford, a 13‑year‑old chubby streetwise neighbor, Remi pieces together clues about an unsolved crime involving another missing 13‑year‑old boy, the son of a reclusive landlady. Their investigation leads them into a ghostly realm where the ghosts of the future haunt the past, and they must confront a dead murderer and the mechanics of time to solve the mystery.
