Books like The pact by Jennifer Sturman

Rachel Benjamin is a sharp‑witted investment banker who finds herself thrust into a crime scene when the groom at a friend’s wedding turns up dead on the day of the ceremony. With the wedding party in shock and the police questioning everyone at the isolated Adirondacks compound, Rachel takes matters into her own hands. A stalker investigation leads her to Peter Forrest, the charismatic best‑man, who becomes both her love interest and prime suspect. Adding to the tension is the college pact Rachel and her friends made to rescue each other from bad relationships, a pledge that now seems to have driven someone to murder. With friends, family, and motives overlapping, Rachel must solve the mystery before the truth sees her dragged into a deeper betrayal. Investing her sharp intellect in a plot full of secrets, friendship, and a cold‑blooded crime, the novel mixes contemporary romance with a whodunnit set against a scenic Adirondack backdrop.
