Books like A job to kill for by Janice Kaplan

Lacy Fields juggles the responsibilities of a mother to three children, the devotion of a spouse to a busy surgeon, and the creative demands of designing plush interiors for celebrity clients. When Cassie Crawford, a young client whose penthouse Lacy lately finished, falls dead after sipping tea, Lacy’s design instincts are forced to confront a chilling reality: murder. Now, surrounded by the glitter of Los Angeles and the delicate balance of her own life, Lacy must navigate clues, motives, and betrayal to solve a case that threatens her perfect world. With her sharp eye for detail and relentless determination, Lacy hones in on a tapestry of suspects, each woven into her days. As tension rises, the boundary between art and crime dissolves, and Lacy's personal stakes deepen—her family, her marriage, and her reputation hang in the balance. In this mystery-detective thriller, read how a designer’s sensibilities clash with the inscrutable motives of those in her social circle, and how a single misstep can unravel a carefully curated life.
